Abstract :
This paper proposes a probabilistic approach for planning a WLAN. A measurement technique was used to collect data from a real WLAN network. The data collected were power and quality of service (QoS) metrics like, delay, jitter, packet loss, throughput and PMOS. They were analyzed through deductive statistical method. Finally, to optimize the QoS parameters to find the best distance from the AP to the receiver to guarantee the QoS ITU-T recommendations a particle swarm optimization (PSO) was applied.
