  • Abstract
The viability of using typical low-cost, highly compact Commercial Off The Shelf antennas for wireless-equipped on-body sensors has been investigated for use in Telecare applications. Doing so, has identified two unanticipated effects: that the effect of the body in close proximity to the on-body antenna almost completely depolarises it, and also that it substantially reduces the mutual coupling between a pair of such closely spaced on-body antennas. The implications of these effects on the overall system performance are outlined.
