Abstract :
Inverse scattering problems are characterized by ill-posedness and nonlinearity which are caused by the limited amount of information available in the measurable scattering data. Such limitation does not allow to achieve satisfactory solutions or in other cases to avoid the reconstruction of false solutions in many practical application. To avoid these drawbacks, the use of optimization approaches able to include in a straightforward way additional constraints coming from a-priori information on the problem at hand or information that can be collected throughout the inversion process represents a suitable tool for the solution of inverse scattering problems. In this work, the use of the available information on the behaviour of the field distribution inside the region under test is properly exploited to define a suitable inversion strategy. Preliminary results are reported to show the advantages of the proposed approach also comparing the achieved results with those obtained from state-of-art inversion strategies.
