Abstract
In this paper the transmission through a periodic array of apertures in a thick dielectric screen is considered. This is a typical example of a topology for which numerous algorithms can be used. A new solving algorithm is explained. It is based on volume integral equations for equivalent electric currents in the apertures. The integral equations are solved using the method of moments. A comparison with CST demonstrates the validity and the efficiency of the new approach. The paper clearly proves that it is still worthwhile to look for dedicated solution algorithms in specific circumstances. A blind application of existing techniques (for example by using commercial software tools) may lead to a considerably reduced efficiency. It is one of the missions of the EuRAAP WG on software to keep the debate on this topic alive.
