Abstract :
To enhance the performances of HF Surface Wave Radar, two periodic structures able to sustain a sole surface wave are proposed in this communication. Starting from the identification of a proper value of electric permittivity that permits surface wave´s propagation, we study a “fakir´s bed of nails” structure which holds the desired surface electric characteristics. A simpler structure is derived from the first and is studied as well. The results of computer simulations permit us to conclude that the two structures allow to efficiently launch surface waves.
