Abstract
In this paper we present the functionality of a holographic laser projector used to reproduce two-dimensional image sequences. First, we present real-time capable algorithms which are used for converting images into phase holograms. The phase holograms produce high quality reconstructions of the target images in ideal simulations. Secondly, we briefly describe the characteristics of a typical hold-type spatial light modulator (SLM) based on liquid crystal technology. We show how to model the characteristics of such an SLM and we simulate and describe the influence of its properties on image reconstruction quality.
