Abstract
This paper studies the issue of channel assignment for providing efficient multicast communication in wireless mesh networks (WMNs). This issue has been extensively investigated. However, previous channel assignment algorithms do not consider node forwarding weight and distance between nodes. To take these two factors into account, we propose a new channel assignment approach. The node forwarding weight is used to make the importance-aware channel assignment. To fully exploit all available channels in channel assignment, we devise a new channel selection metric to consider the distance between nodes. Finally, we perform simulation experiments to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
