Abstract :
A practical blind carrier frequency estimation of wireless communication signals is required in lots of applications in data detection especially blind receivers. In this regard high estimation precision regarding the channel bandwidth and feasible estimation range are highly important. In this paper we consider a simple totally blind estimation and focus on channel periodogram analyzing using centroid function for estimation. The design and FPGA implementation of filter bank which contribute to achieve the best performance is described along with implementation consideration for Xilinx Virtex4 FPGAs. The results show that the proposed algorithm has the best performance compared with two typical methods based on autocorrelation specifications, especially in low SNR conditions.
