Abstract :
A method of non-contact measuring for spur gear based on machine vision is proposed in this work, concentrating on developing measuring methodologies and algorithms to get the gear´s key parameters, such as, outside diameter, root diameter, number of teeth, and estimate the module of gear, all of which realized by the gear contour obtained from image segmentation, binarization processing, median filtering, and boundary tracking. Specially, a strategy to measure the width and depth of keyway and to count the number of tooth is introduced, respectively. And the measuring process is completed by automatically generating the dimensional drawing of object.
