Abstract
By using self-started optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) loop and self-seeding fiber-ring, a beyond-bandwidth operated clock-free weak-resonant-cavity Fabry-Perot laser diode (WRC-FPLD) pulsed carrier with 10-Gbit/s RZ-OOK transmission is demonstrated. The optimized RZ carrier exhibits 29-ps pulsewidth and 0.66-ps timing jitter through the carefully assigned self-feedback power ratio and cavity length. By elongating the cavity length with 400m-long single-mode fiber, the SNR of the RZ-OOK data can be improved from 6.5 to 7.1 dB and the receiving power can achieve -16 dBm at BER of 10-9 with the beyond-bandwidth-operating and self-started WRC-FPLD transmitter.
