Ma Yinchu´s Personality and Its Formation and Development: An Application of Multidimensional Scale Analysis

Abstract :
In order to explore the personality of Ma Yinchu who was renowned in Economics, Education and Demography, the multidimensional scale (MDS) and hierarchical cluster method were applied to analyze the data collected from 93 anticipants´ free category to 27 adjectives which were selected from his diary, biography and other related material. The result indicated that the personality of Dr. Ma could be interpreted to Righteousness, Conscientiousness, Persistence and Ambitiousness and the model fit indices indicated adequate fit: stress= 0.108<;0.2, RSQ =0.945>;0.6. According to the review of materials related to Dr. Ma´s life, we found his personality was influenced by the specific time, his education experience, his diligence, and his families. The study also demonstrated some advantages of MDS that were fewer samples demand, better visualized and easier in interpretation in exploration to personality.
