Abstract :
The idle speed control is one of the most important automotive control problems to reduce emission. In this paper, a nonlinear engine model is setup for designing the idle speed controller using backstepping method. Robustness of the tracking error system is discussed in the framework of ISS theory, where model uncertainties and disturbance torque are considered as additive disturbance inputs. Based on this, a guideline for selecting the controller parameters is given. Finally, the simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
