Abstract :
The aim of this research is the design of marine diesel-generator excitation controller which is capable of providing good and constant voltage control performance. The framework of the control design is based on adaptive on-line GA tuning PID which parameters are tuned using GA so as to perform optimally at one operating point. The control scheme is comprised of AVR based on a standard voltage error signal derived from d-axis voltage and current variations, to mitigate the influence of disturbances on dynamic behaviors. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is compared with the conventional PID AVR and found to be much better.
