Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to give two concrete examples of switching control overcoming the performance limitations of linear control with respect to overshoot avoidance. It is shown by both the examples that a simple switching between two linear feedback controllers may achieve a nonovershooting step response even though neither of them can do so alone. This indicates a novel methodology to design nonovershooting controllers.
