Abstract :
2-Butaneone was synthesized from pinacol rearrangement of 2,3-butanediol (BDL) dehydration by using a cleaner and more environment benign approach, which reaction system was in near-critical water (NCW). The result showed that the addition of carbon dioxide was benefit for the conversion of BDL while was not advantageous for the yield of 2-butaneone. According the experimental results, the mechanism of dehydration of BDL in NCW was proposed.
