Abstract :
We review the recent progress of terabit optical signal generation and transmission by using single-carrier and multi-carrier modulations. The highest reported bit rates for single-carrier and multi-carrier approaches are 448Gbit/s with polarization-multiplexing 16QAM and 10Tb/s with polarization-multiplexing QPSK over 112 25-Gbaud OFDM subchannels, respectively.
