Abstract
According to the characteristics of fluid flow and heat transfer, the 3D physical model of ventilation system of a 3 MW doubly-fed wind generator was established. On the basis of hydromechanics and heat transfer theory, the governing equation was presented. Fluid flow and thermal field was calculated coupled using finite volume method by giving fundamental assumptions and corresponding boundary conditions. Flow performance of cooling mediums and temperature rise distribution of generator were analyzed in detail. Correctness of simulation results and rationality of research method were checked by class of insulation. Some useful conclusions were obtained.
