Abstract :
A flexible vehicle arresting system (FVAS) is presented in this paper. The FVAS enables vehicle to stop without damages to the vehicle and vehicle-mounted personnel. The analysis completes about kinematical equations for each link both in on-and off-center arresting processes, kinematics model for the FVAS, building the simulation model of the FVAS in MATLAB/SIMULINK and making a description for systematic behaviors after running the model. Further more, this paper evaluates the correctness and validity of the ever-built model by means of comparing data from testing on real vehicle on-center hitting against the FVAS with those from simulation, and then it provides some valuable advice for further research on the FVAS.
