Abstract :
We have analyzed the transmission properties of guiding band in one-dimensional photonic crystal with periodic defect layers. Using transfer matrix method we concluded that the guiding band width would change with varying defect layer size or the distance between defect layers. The group velocities of different guiding bands were calculated and we found that the defect layer size could apparently affect the group velocity. We also discussed the properties of the defect modes resulted by another defect layer in the slow wave structure.
