Abstract
In general the energy base load power stations in South Africa are used as `default´ primary energy sources. This has led to a situation where the community energy needs is a `fire-fighting´ activity where the other energy supply options are out of reach. Salient steps are proposed with proviso that the South African energy environment should establish appropriate methods of selecting appropriate energy mixes. This should be done as a pre-requisite in formulating energy management strategic structures, which will embrace a sustainable environmental energy management system.
