  • Abstract
This paper discusses the modeling and simulation of an electric ceramic infrared heater, energy saving potentials and advantages of infrared radiant heaters over conventional heaters. It includes mathematical and theoretical models as well as energy surface balances. Looking at various components that make up the construction of the heater, the model predicts the temperature of the heater, the heating up and cooling down temperatures using Fourier equations and also the degradation equation. The document presents a table of data showing corresponding figures obtained from pre-calculations for the use of the resistance wire (heating element) that includes length, diameter, power ratings, resistance and area. It goes further to highlight prospective results from simulations of temperature versus time charts.
