Abstract
This paper investigates the impact that board composition has on firm performance in a sample of listed tourism firms in China during the period 1992-2009. The results show that there is significantly negative relationship between Tobin´s Q and CEO duality, while there is no statistically significant relationship between ROA and CEO duality. Board size has strong negative impacts on both Tobin´s Q and ROA, while board independence has positive influence on both Tobin´s Q and ROA of tourism firms.
