Abstract :
In this paper, the adaptive modified characteristic basis function method (AMCBFM) is extended to analyze the electromagnetic scattering of composite metallic-dielectric objects. The targets are discretized into triangular patches for metallic surfaces and tetrahedral cells for dielectric volume, respectively. In AMCBFM, a current criterion is set to decide whether or not to calculate the higher-level basis functions, which is different from the conventional characteristic basis function method (CBFM). Numerical results are given to demonstrate the accuracy and the numerical efficiency of the proposed method.
