Abstract
Uninterrupted connectivity to the nearest infrastructure node is one of the major requirements in VANETs. These nodes often serve as relays that quickly disseminate emergency information using more powerful transmitters or even different networks, e.g. terrestrial cellular or satellite. In this paper we estimate the minimum distance between infrastructure nodes such that the connectivity to the nearest infrastructure node is guaranteed with a certain probability. Our results would help at the earliest stage of VANETs´ deployment when the penetration rate of cars equipped with VANET communication modules is insufficient.
