  • Abstract
This paper presents a new decomposition technique for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images using the degree of polarization (DoP) and the co-polarized phase difference (CPD). The DoP and CPD represent scattering characteristics. This decomposition technique is verified with L-band ALOS PALSAR polarimetric data taken over one area of Korea. Furthermore, the results of this decomposition are compared with the existing three - and four-component decomposition techniques. The DoP-CPD decomposition agrees quite well with three - and four-component decomposition techniques.
