Abstract :
In this paper the authors present a 3D near field SAR imaging algorithm. Recently, the focus on security applications has led to consider millimeter waves radars for the detection of concealed objects. High resolution target images are obtained by using a continuous wave (CW) radar that perform a full rotation around the target. The wavefront curvature is taken into account by using a planar piecewise approximation. In the following a bistatic configuration is considered as a way for reducing costs. The proposed reconstruction algorithm is based on a space variant focusing function and the target reflectivity function is estimated by means of a three dimensional Discrete Fourier Transform. The system Point Spread Function, the spatial resolutions and the depth of focus are analyzed.
