Abstract :
Multiwavelets extend traditional scalar wavelets to vector space, which include all the advantages of the traditional wavelets, while overcoming the shortcomings of scalar wavelets. Multiwavelets show the perfect union of symmetry, orthogonally, finitely support and smoothness. As a result, the applications of multiwavelets in image processing have shown great potential. In this paper, an image coding method based on EBCOT algorithm and multiwavelet transform was proposed. During our research, a variety of commonly-used multiwavelets were used to combine with EBCOT algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed method is a valuable attempt of image compression.
