Abstract
A microwave curtain can be formed by a set of radar sensors equipped with antennas showing narrow radiation diagrams in the vertical plane and wide radiation patterns in the horizontal plane. One of the possible applications concerns active defense (AD) systems, which should protect military vehicles against the most dangerous types of missiles. The AD systems detect approaching missiles and activate suitable counter-measures. The microwave curtain can be "uncurled" around the protected vehicle and is able to detect flight of any thread missile through the defined planes. Signals generated by the microwave curtain can be used for identification of the thread missiles. Furthermore, it is possible to develop impulses that are able to activate efficient counter-measures.
