Abstract :
Subway´s air quality has been significantly affected by the outdoor air quality. Especially the most common compounds of concern associated with the subway system are volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and NO2. In this study, only gaseous compounds (VOCs and nitrogen dioxide) were considered as target air pollutants. The removal efficiency of VOCs and NO2 using mixed activated carbon bed was tested through a subway control method. It was found that the efficiencies on NO2 and VOC removal were 77% and 83%, respectively when the mixed activated carbon bed was applied to the subway ventilation system in order to eliminate NO2 and VOC at the same time.
