Abstract
This paper describes a new deep water low power acoustic sensor, with excellent sensitivity in the low to middle-acoustic frequency range, for use in integrated cabled systems at depths of up to 6000 meters. The goal was to develop a very high reliable, low power, low profile acoustic sensor that could be integrated into current underwater cable systems, as well as future expansions. The sensor needed to maintain backward compatibility with existing acoustic systems, while providing high fidelity at much reduced power consumption.
