Abstract :
The Southern African governments are striving to take-up, promote and integrate technological and business research results and solutions from more developed regions into regional markets. Considering the long legacy of pro-active European research, a profound effort is put in by both SADC states and European stakeholders in transfer European research results into African markets. So far, it has been a tough way with very low success rate as well as lack of tangible benefit for the masses. The paper presents a high level approach by highlighting two main challenges facing SADC to adopt European research outcomes; `Regional market dynamics´ and `Technology selection and sustainable integration´. Within this paper these challenges are detailed for ICT inclusion. Two cases from waste management and the medical sector are compared within a Domain Scope Segment framework.
