Abstract :
Bio-inspired multichannel imaging systems bear the inherent advantage of shorter total track lengths compared to mono-channel imaging system. On the other hand, the attained resolution was rather poor up to now. In this paper we describe the realisation of a multichannel VGA camera. Sub-images are stitched together electronically in the so-called “electronic cluster eye” camera. Secondly, a close-up imaging system is shown, the “ultraflat microscope” achieving a resolution as high as 250 LP/mm. The essential optical elements for both systems are waferlevel fabricated micro-lens arrays.
