The frequency of natural oscillation mode in large power system is very close. When the system parameters take place minor changes, system has the potential to instability of close modes. In this paper, a perturbation technique for complex modes is used to analyze the characteristics of close modes in power system, which shows that eigenvalues have no obvious changes after perturbation, both right eigenvectors and left eigenvectors are sensitive to the perturbation of system parameters. Then the 10-machine New England test system is employed to testify the conclusion above.
