Abstract
An implementation of a radar imaging system with synthetic antenna aperture for educational and research purposes is considered in this paper. Radar receiver is replaced by a video camera and a signal processing board, forming a mathematical model of a real radar signal from optical images. This approach allows avoiding problems with getting real radar reflected signals. Another board executes one of digital signal processing algorithms and outputs a radar image on a display. Whole system works in real time making it convenient to study radar imaging fundamentals or to investigate some new processing ideas.
