Abstract
This paper presents a scene change algorithm implemented on an embedded digital signal processor (DSP) system. First, this study analyzes the properties and specific functions of the DSP. Based on the useful functions in this DSP system, this study develops a scene change detection algorithm based on the DSP accelerator hardware. The proposed algorithm can solve the problem of fade in, fade out, and abrupt. To enhance software and hardware co-design, this study modifies the algorithm flow to perform pipeline operation. This algorithm limits the execution time of scene change detection to 4 ms per frame to ensure compatibility with vision-based application such as video surveillance. Finally, this study uses “The Matrix Reloaded” movie to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.
