Abstract :
A new method to reduce the torque ripple and current harmonics is presented in this paper. A conventional 2 level inverter is fed with two inductor boost converter to drive the induction motor. A Hybrid Pulse Width Modulation (HPWM) algorithm is being used to generate the pulses for the 2 level inverter. In proposed hybrid PWM both continuous PWM and discontinuous PWM techniques are employed. This HPWM algorithm uses space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), which is based on the concept of the imaginary switching times, which greatly reduces the complexity of the conventional SVPWM algorithm. The VSI inverter is fed from a two inductor boost converter which is capable of giving high output voltage with small inductor. To validate the proposed method, the two inductor boost converter and HPWM inverter is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results are presented.
