  • Abstract
In recent years people are affected more due to loss of lower limb. The main causes of amputation are disease, congenital deformities and trauma. Disease and trauma are the most common causes. The major diseases that contribute to amputation are vascular diseases, diabetes and tumors. In general those individuals who have amputations due to disease are older with the amputation usually occurring after age 60. Prosthetic limbs are commonly used by people with limbs loss (acquired amputation) and limb absence (congenital deficiency) to restore the function of an anatomical limb. Prosthesis is the part of the field biomechatronic, the science of using mechanical devices to assist human muscle, skeleton system, lost by trauma, diseases or defect. We propose a biomechatronic knee with maximum knee flexion of 150° or more is desired. Which include the stance-phase, swing-phase with maximum angular movement For this lower extremity limb the gait analysis is performed. To avoid the heavy weight bearing in knee joint the maximum load bearing capacity is fixed according to the wearer weight.
