Abstract :
Vegetable wastes were an-aerobically digested in a lab scale batch reactor at ambient temperature. The organic loading was maintained at 0.08 – 0.09gmVS in one reactor and 0.15–0.17gmVS in another reactor with hydraulic retention time of varying from 20 to 56 days. The amount of total biogas produced from the reactors was found to be in comparison with the amount of biodegradable fraction (BDF) added, ie., on an average 1.3 lit for 1.4gm of BDF and 2.5lit for 2.6 gm of BDF.
