Abstract :
An initial capability for producing argon K-shell radiation was demonstrated at Decade Quad. Using a double-shell nozzle gas puff, designed for 200 ns implosions, 17.7 and 28.7 kJ of K-shell radiation at 4.06 and 4.64 MA, respectively, were radiated. Although the load current was 20% lower than circuit model calculations predict, the radiation produced was consistent with previous experiments performed at Double-EAGLE at comparable load current.
