Abstract
We present results of studies of charged particle and light emission from ferroelectric plasma cathodes. Results of lifetime tests of different ferroelectric cathodes are also described. We studied the operation of a planar electron diode with ferroelectric cathodes having emitting areas of 10cm2 and 100cm2 under the application of a high-voltage pulse of 25kV and 300kV, respectively, with a repetition rate ≤5Hz. Data related to the uniformity of the extracted electron beam, the potential distribution, impedance, power, and energy of the diode operating with these cathodes are given as well. We also present data of the vacuum deterioration as a result of cathode operation.
