Abstract
Breakdown characteristics of the statistical time lag and the formative time lag of flashover have been investigated by applying a flat-top nanosecond pulse to dry-air insulated gaps at atmospheric pressure. As for the formative time lag of the sphere gap, the formative time lag was inversely proportional to the electric field. The statistical time lag depended on the gap length for almost the cases.
