Abstract
Nanosize Al2 O3 powder was produced by pulsed wire discharge. The discharge was carried out with the peak current of ∼10kA, the pulse length of ∼20µs, and the pulse energy of ∼80J. Nanosize γ-Al2 O3 powders have been synthesized by pulsed discharge of metal wires in oxygen as an ambient gas. The powder size and its distribution were able to control by the oxygen pressure.
