Abstract :
NOx removal in the gas chamber filled with atmospheric pressure NO/N2 gas was investigated by injection of the pulse electron beam of 160keV energy, beam current of 140A, current density of 2A/cm2, pulse width of 0.7 µs and electron beam power of 12.6J/pulse, or the electron beam of 120keV, 10A, 2.5µs and 2.8J/pulse. Optimum energy efficiency of NOx removal in NO/N2 gas depends strongly on the operating parameters. The efficiency increased for the large volume of gas chamber, dense initial NO concentration and relatively low electron beam power at small removal ratio. The efficiencies increased to 900nmol/J when the electron beam with 0.1∼0.35J/pulse was injected into the gas mixture of NO(=200ppm)/N2. Pulse electron beam source for NOx removal experiment was improved to increase the output electron beam power as compared with the stored energy of the Marx generator. The injected electron beam power increased to 46% of the stored energy by using an active plasma cathode.
