Abstract
80 MW Ku-band gyroklytrons are being developed with pulse duration of one microsecond for driving future linear colliders. Three- and four-cavity coaxial schemes are presented in this paper. Numerical simulations predict efficiency over 32%, with 50–60dB gain, and 80 MW power level for gyroklystrons operating at second harmonic (17.136GHz). It is shown that a four-cavity circuit could improve significantly the gain and reduce the power of the driving source.
