Abstract
Gas selective filter has been successfully developed by depositing ultrafine nanosize powders on a porous substrate heated. The powders were produced by pulsed wire discharge, and floated in the gas. Evacuation through the substrate resulted in the accumulation of the powder on the substrate. The powders were sintered on the heated substrate on which the porous membrane was formed. Gas separation experiments showed that gas permeation ratios have been found to be the square root of the ratio of the molecular masses of respective gases. Furthermore, Knudsen flow took place in the filter, which enables us to separate gases of different molecular mass.
