Abstract :
To increase bremsstrahlung intensity of a high power 36-module linear accelerator LIA-30 the electron beam focusing (compression) was realized. In the output assembly there was applied a focusing system of 9 solenoids. At the decrease of aperture from 400 to 180 mm this system provided growth of longitudinal magnetic field induction from 0.5 to 3.5 T at a length of 1.1 m. In addition to the established in the injector cathode with two emitters 60 and 150 mm in diameter the second ring cathode 250 mm in diameter was placed in the fifteenth module to improve homogeneity of bremsstrahlung field. There were obtained dose rate equal to ~ 7×1012 rad/s, dose value equal to 150 krad (TLD) in a spot of ~100 cm2 and 50-% inhomogeneity of irradiation. When the accelerator functions only with the second cathode the radiation dose rate and dose value constituted ~ 2.5×1012 rad/sc and ~ 50 krad (TLD) respectively in a spot of ~150 cm2 area.
