  • Abstract
    The experiment data on liner implosion under the effect of pressure pulse produced by single-turn explosive magnetic generator (EMG) with 4 MJ output energy and shaped by magnetic-opening switch are presented. When rising up to 10 MA the current produced by high-current EMG runs along the annular component of the magnetic-opening switch over a long time equal to 430 μs. The annular component 100 mm in diameter, 15 mm long along the axis having the walls 1.2 mm thick is connected with the conducting electrodes- by cross-connections 0.2 mm thick. The annular component expands in radial direction under the effect of magnetic pressure produced by the running ultra-high current. The thin cross-connections 0.2 mm thick are easily sheared off at the beginning of component expansion. A volumetric arc is produced in the expanding annular gap between the annular component and conducting electrodes. A magnetized plasma of the arc propagates under the effect of ~ 109 Pa magnetic pressure in the coaxial toroidal cavity above the imploding cylindrical liner. The radial velocity of liner implosion is 6.2 km/s. The analysis demonstrating that the liner is effectively accelerated due to both the magnetic pressure produced by the current running along the liner and gas-kinetic pressure produced by magnetized plasma above the liner has been carried out.
