Abstract
This paper is aimed at studying and evaluating the performance of an algorithm suitable for load control enhancement in “Session Initiation Protocol” servers. The proposed algorithm exploits a mechanism based on different values of threshold to check the overload status of the controlled server. The paper shows that the performances are improved when the algorithm works with more thresholds instead of a single one. The paper assumes throughput, i.e. the number of the calls or registrations completed in a second, as the performance measurement unit.
