Abstract :
In this paper, a novel FSR-SP-LWC algorithm of sharing the backup lightpath capacities for WDM networks with limited wavelength conversion capability, has been proposed. The key feature is that it also provides fast service recovery for the price of only a little degradation of link capacity utilization. The ILP model has been introduced and followed by the efficient heuristics based on the graph list vertex-coloring approach. The algorithm was evaluated for the U.S. Long-Distance Network and COST 239 Network. Compared to the results of the commonly used approach, the average service recovery time values were up to 50% shorter. They were achieved together with up to 39% reduction of link capacity utilization ratio.
