Abstract :
Tracking of fires in large areas of land/forests can be done by using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) embedded into those areas. Mobile Agents (MAs) injected into the WSNs can help about fire detection and can maintain the information about the perimeter surrounding the fire. This paper proposes a further improvement of the state-of-the-art in the manner of predicting the direction in which the fire might spread. The proposed solution uses land humidity sensors and MAs that are sent on the edge of the perimeter formerly created to gather humidity data and to make a prediction based on the gathered data. The prediction is sent to the appropriate fire department unit enabling them to react quickly.
